HUAWEI ALP-L29

Also known as Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10

Open firmwareAI-assisted

A free replacement firmware exists.

Huawei Mate 10 (Kirin 970, 2017). It shipped with Project Treble, so once the bootloader is unlocked it runs generic system images (GSIs): Android 9 GSIs work well on an EMUI 9 base, newer ones lose the camera and mobile data. The hard part is the unlock: Huawei stopped issuing codes in 2018 and there is no free, open-source unlock for the Kirin 970.

Get started

One known way to put open firmware or software on this device, easiest first. Each one links to the project's own instructions.

Before you start
  • Back up your data and settings (and the stock firmware, when the guide says how).
  • Check the exact model, hardware revision and firmware version against the guide: a close model may not work.
  • Charge the battery or use a stable power supply; do not unplug during the install.
